Westfield Doncaster will be the place to go for foodies when it unveils its $30 million rooftop dining precinct.
Owners Scentre Group gave Manningham Leader an exclusive look at the precinct, set to open later in the year, next to Village Cinemas and a new Rebel concept store.
It will boast 14 restaurants with a mix of niche brands and international flavours, as well as popular drawcards The Sporting Globe and Betty’s Burgers.
Asian food lovers will be able to enjoy a Korean barbecue form Yeosin, Japanese pancakes from Dohtonbori and Lanzhou cuisine from a beef noodle bar.
Sushi Jiro will have a plum central spot with a giant sushi train, surrounded by stores specialising in bubble tea, gelato, woodfired pizza, Thai street food and pretzels.
Two existing restaurants — TGI Fridays and The Secret Kitchen — will return in expanded and refreshed spaces, and the centre’s views to Melbourne’s skyline will also be kept.
Scentre Group regional manager Charlie Rimmer said the precinct would take Westfield Doncaster “to the next level” and attract shoppers and diners from across Melbourne.
Mr Rimmer said the precinct would have a “light and airy” feel with built-in skylights and plenty of greenery.
“It will be a purpose-built, indoor-outdoor home away from home with an eclectic mix of cuisines that we’ve created especially for our consumers,” he said.
“It’s a landmark development which will make it one of Melbourne’s destinations to come and eat and spend time.”
Shoppers and diners will be able to enter the precinct through a sculpture and art garden with child and dog-friendly features.
An outdoor beer garden with shipping containers and Asian tapas — Pocha Pocha — will be next door.
The precinct will also be accessible through a glass elevator entrance at street level on the corner of Doncaster and Williamson Rds.

“Our purpose is to create extraordinary places and connect and enrich communities, and we believe that by doing these developments and investing this money in Doncaster, we’re going to do that,” Mr Rimmer said.
The precinct will open at a yet-to-be-confirmed date later this year.
But to tide shoppers over until then, sports retailer Rebel is opening its new double-storey Australian concept store next to the precinct on March 19.
A VIP event is planned the night before with athletes including Olympic legend Cathy Freeman, basketballer Liz Cambage and Melbourne AFL captain Max Gawn all set to attend.
