A premium spa retreat, resort-style pools and four tennis courts will be part of the Tullamore housing estate’s state-of-the-art country club.

Construction of the multimillion-dollar club has begun at the site of the former Eastern Golf Club in Doncaster.

Next Gen Health And Lifestyle will open its first Victorian club as part of Mirvac’s giant 800-dwelling neighbourhood housing development at the old 47ha course.

Historic Tullamore homestead — built in the 1800s — has been incorporated into the club’s design and workers will restore its exterior facades, veranda and deck.

The 11,000sq m club will also boast a fully-equipped gym with an extensive studio classes schedule as well as pools, spas, tennis courts, a members lounge and cafe.

Mirvac spokeswoman Elysa Anderson said the developer was confident Next Gen would give “utmost respect to the site’s heritage”.

“The redevelopment will be sympathetic to the heritage homestead and the well-known and much-loved nearby oak tree will be preserved and protected as part of the leafy Tullamore landscape,” she said.

Next Gen chief executive Brett Leahy said the business was excited to create a unique health and fitness experience for the area.

“The team is looking forward to bringing together the new and the old, while celebrating the heritage of the Tullamore homestead with a faithful restoration, integrating it seamlessly into the club for a new generation to enjoy,” he said.
