A popular burger joint is giving diners their first taste of Westfield Doncaster’s hotly hyped $30 million rooftop dining precinct.

Betty’s Burgers opened its fifth Melbourne restaurant at the shopping centre on Wednesday, with a host of other eateries set to open in the coming months.

Public access from the carpark to the precinct, located on level two near Village Cinemas and the Rebel superstore, has also reopened and given shoppers the first look at a new urban garden.

Betty’s Burgers Doncaster manager Hannah Hunt said about 30 staff had been hired and its team would double in size once coronavirus restrictions ease.

Ms Hunt said the team were excited to be the first restaurant open in the precinct and to share in its outdoor garden space.

“We’ve been building through this whole time and everything was ready to go,” Ms Hunt said.

“It’s a great spot, the carpark is right there and we’re right near the entrance so we’re very lucky.

HOW THE EAST’S SHOPPING CENTRES HAVE CHANGED

Centre operators Scentre group confirmed the precinct would open in phases rather than all at once.

Regional centre experience manager Charlie Rimmer said Master Lanzhou Noodle Bar, Woodstock Pizzicheria and outdoor Asian tapas container bar Pocha Pocha would be next to open their doors “in the coming months”.

Mr Rimmer said customers could stay up to date on the new openings on the Westfield Doncaster website.
