Ute smashes into Golf Links Ave, Oakleigh, house

Two teenage boys have been arrested after allegedly crashing a car into the lounge room of an Oakleigh house. Two people were woken when the out-of-control car went through the front brick wall, but were uninjured.

Two people woke to the sound of a ute smashing into their lounge room in Oakleigh last night.

The out-of-control Holden ute careered off the road and took down the property’s front fence before crashing through the front of the brick house on Golf Links Ave about 11.20pm.

The car came to a stop in the house’s lounge room, according to Oakleigh Sergeant Jason Morel.

He said fortunately no one was injured in the crash, with the two residents in bed in another section of the house at the time.

9 News reported a man and his elderly mother were inside, and the force of the crash sent furniture flying.

The boys allegedly made a run for it after the residents heard the bang and called police, 9 news reported.

Police arrived on scene to find the driver was no longer in the car.

Sgt Morel said police later located and arrested a 17-year-old boy, who was assisting police with their inquiries.

9 news reported a 16-year-old boy was also arrested.

No one has been charged.
