Two boys arrested after alleged theft of two cars in Camberwell, pursuit in Dandenong

Two alleged car thieves collided after they allegedly stole an Audi and Mitsubishi from a Camberwell home, before leading police on a wild chase in Dandenong.

Two boys have been arrested after an alleged armed burglary in Camberwell.

A group of youths allegedly stole two cars from a Camberwell house before smashing into each other, then leading police on a wild chase across Dandenong.

The drone unit and police air wing eventually helped track down the group under the Dandenong Bypass, with two boys arrested.

Police believe the group went to Nicholsdale Rd in Camberwell about 4.30am Wednesday, getting into a house and stealing keys to a white Audi Q5 and a grey Mitsubishi Pajero.

Police went to the scene and saw the Audi and Pajero collide before the group then allegedly fled the scene in the two stolen cars and a third unknown car.

Officers then spotted the stolen Audi in Tania Court, Dandenong about 9.30am and put a cordon in place, before stop sticks successfully deflated a tyre about 9.40am.

A pursuit was initiated before the car was seen in Kirkham Rd, Dandenong – officers then found the car in Dawn Ave, Dandenong about 9.50am.

The drone unit and air wing helped find five youths under the Dandenong Bypass just after 10am.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested for aggravated burglary and theft of a motor vehicle.

He was expected to be charged on summons and face a children’s court at a later date.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested for unrelated matters.

He is expected to be charged on summons and face a children’s court at a later date.

The other three youths were identified and released pending further inquiries.
