Want to know the most popular dog breed in your area?
We’ve crunched the numbers to give you the whole kit and cavoodle.
In fact, the cute Australian crossbreed between miniature poodles and Cavalier King Charles spaniels was the most common type of dog in the eastern suburbs.
Cavoodles were the most-registered dogs in Manningham, Whitehorse and Stonnington, and came second in Boroondara, Knox and Monash.
Which is appropriate considering the breed was born right in this little corner of the world.

Former Boronia Veterinary Clinic nurse-turned-breeder Wendy Westerveld bred the first cavoodles back in the 1990s.
The Wantirna South woman said the aim was to breed dogs that would suit families – small in size, low-shedding with a good nature – in a bid to tackle the high rate of abandoned dogs at the clinic.
And with spaniels prone to health issues, Ms Westerveld said the hybrid also prioritised the wellbeing of the dogs.
“(Cavoodles) just turned out to be such great dogs,” she said.
“They are really good dogs for any age – old couples, young people, families with kids.”
In Melbourne’s east Yarra Ranges had the highest number of dogs registered – 25,209 – in the eastern suburbs, with labradors the most common canines found in the area.
