A massive police presence still remains outside Premier Daniel Andrews Noble Park electorate office after more than 100 protesters gathered.
A nearby Princes Highway business owner confirmed protesters swarmed on the Mulgrave MP shop front earlier today.
A dozen police cars have remain at the site including the public order response unit.
A Victoria Police spokesman said police are aware of a planned protest in Noble Park this afternoon.
“People can expect to see a highly visible police presence in the area to enforce Chief Health Officer directions, including the restrictions around gatherings.
“Police will issue fines for any obvious, deliberate and blatant breaches of the Chief Health Officer directions.”
Reignite Democracy Australia director Monica Smitt, who told Leader she was a journalist, said she attended the gathering to interview locals.
“There was about 100 people that attended. I sympathise with the affect this disproportionate lockdown has had on small businesses in Victoria,” Ms Smitt said.
“Victorians are feeling unheard and trapped and this is why I’m doing what I’m doing — I want to be their voice.”
But a State Government spokesperson said: “As the Premier has said repeatedly, protest doesn’t work against this virus.”
“We are so close to being able to take significant steps towards COVID-normal, we can’t let our frustration get the better of us and throw away all that we have given,” they said.
Vandals previously targeted the site smashing the front window and graffitiing the words “sack Dan” in red spray-paint last week.
Leader has previously reported vandals scrawling “CCP” — which stands for Chinese Communist Party — which was quickly removed.
