US clothing store TK Maxx is set to replace Big W at Forest Hill Chase, which will soon also boast a new indoor piazza as owners look to revitalise the shopping centre.
Construction has begun on the new precinct, The Loft, on level three of the shopping centre.
It will feature several new restaurants and cafes, along with a children’s playground, parents’ room facilities and a new lift to provide additional access to level three.
The centre says it will create “a modern piazza style dining experience”.

Whitehorse Business Group chair Kathryn Collier welcomed the upgrades, which she believed would “bring a new energy to the place”.
“It’s a great thing for the shopping centre, it will change the dynamic of it entirely,” she said.
“Forest Hill has always had a special point of difference and I think this will just add another dimension to that.”
Level three of the shopping centre has been littered with empty space and shops closing down in recent months.
The Loft will complement level three’s existing tenants including TGI Fridays, Timezone, Hoyts Cinemas, the Fit ‘N’ Fast gym and a bowling alley.
Centre management are yet to reveal the cost of the renovations or an expected completion date.
Meanwhile, budget clothing and homewares store TK Maxx has been confirmed as the first retailer to fill the space previously occupied by Big W on level two.
The department store closed last month after more than 20 years at the centre.
Forest Hill Chase spokeswoman Natasha Greco said the space would be divided up to fit “four to five” other retailers, who would be announced once rent negotiations were completed.
