Police bust Ryan Calderone with ice, MDMA, cash and scales
A man charged with possession of methamphetamine, MDMA and more than $2000 cash has been released from jail, despite police telling the court they feared he would reoffend.

An alleged drug trafficker with an “extensive drug history” has been granted bail despite police fears he could reoffend.
Ryan Calderone, 28, of Mt Waverley appeared in the dock at the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court on January 9 after he was busted by police allegedly with methamphetamine, a pipe, scales, a small rock of MDMA and benzodiazepine last month.
Senior Constable Kery Morris told the court police stopped the luxury car he was travelling in with a friend after it left a Raymond St address in Ashwood soon after midnight on December 13.
A search of the Alfa Romeo found 3.5g of methamphetamine inside a small black bag tucked between the front passenger seat, which was occupied by Mr Calderone, and the handbrake.
Police also found scales and $2335 cash when they searched Mr Calderone.
Sen-Constable Morris said Mr Calderone later gave police a drug pipe, a rock of MDMA and benzodiazepine pills he had hidden in his underwear.
Sen-Constable Morris said Mr Calderone told police his father gave him the cash earlier that day as a gift.
But when police interviewed his father, Rocco, who was in court to support his son, he told them his son asked him for the money because he was “in trouble” and needed the money to pay a debt.

Magistrate Tim Walsh released Mr Calderone on conditions of a curfew, lives at his parents’ Mt Waverley home and reports regularly to police.
Mr Calderone faces charges including trafficking a drug of dependence and possession of methamphetamine.
He will appear at court at a later date.
