Parham Kousari-Rad bailed by Ringwood court after allegedly failing to escape police twice

A bumbling, stumbling goof couldn’t keep his footing while running from police, only making it 40m before he was allegedly caught with drugs and an imitation firearm.

A Mount Waverley man has allegedly made two failed escape bids after attracting police attention in dodgy cars.

Parham Kousari-Rad applied for bail in the Ringwood Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The Mount Waverley man allegedly unsuccessfully attempted to flee from police on two occasions.

On September 21 last year, police spotted a stolen plates on a black mercedes in a Mount Waverley driveway.

Officers walked up to the drivers side door and were allegedly hit by Kousari-Rad opening the door.

Kousari-Rad attempted to flee and tripped over his own feet.

He was arrested and police allegedly found an imitation firearm, meth and cannabis in the car.

One the second occasion, police spotted a stolen blue jeep driving erratically in Hallam and began a pursuit of the car.

The driver was allegedly driving at 120km/h in the opposite direction of traffic just after 3am on February 22.

Police used stop sticks and deflated one front tyre of the car.

The tyre fell off and the car slammed into a parked car, then spun out into a fence.

The court heard the car narrowly missed a home, where an elderly couple were sleeping inside.

Police allegedly found 37 grams of meth, black tar heroin, an imitation firearm, deal bags and more than $2,000 in cash.

Kousari-Rad, who was on bail at the time of the police pursuit, was arrested.

The court was told if Kousari-Rad was granted bail he would live with his parents at their Mount Waverley home and be offered a job working in the family business.

He was granted bail with curfew restrictions and will next appear before the Ringwood Magistrates Court on September 18.
