A new one stop Asian supermarket chain is heading to Melbourne’s east with the store offering more than just groceries.
Asian supermarket chain Foodle will open its second Victorian store on August 20 at The Glen Shopping Centre.
Foodle founder David Loh, a Malaysian accountant who introduced Australia to bubbletea, said the store offered more than a typical supermarket.
“We have created the store to be an interactive one stop shop for our customers,” he said.
“There will be a Japanese street food teppanyaki stall, fresh sushi bar, a noodle making machine and a Korean doughnut bakery offering freshly prepared, live on-site treats for visitors.”
The store will also have one of Australia’s largest Japanese wagyu offerings and a live seafood market where customers can select their items and have them prepared by in-house chefs.
“Everyone will have the ability to purchase items that are usually hard to find from all parts of Asia with commodities and ingredients regularly featured in Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Indonesian, Filipino cuisines and more,” Mr Loh said.
The Glen centre manager Sascha Schubiger said the shopping centre was “delighted” to welcome Foodle.
“This expansion is a testament to the growing demand for diverse and specialised retail experiences,” she said.
The 1800 sqm store will be located in the fresh food precinct on level one of the shopping centre.
The Glen Foodle is the second of its kind in Victoria after the shop debuted at High Point Shopping Centre, Maribyrnong in 2023.
Mr Loh said the company planned to open more Victorian stores in the future.
