Oakleigh South collision: Man trapped in car, another on the run

A two-car collision in Oakleigh South left one man trapped in his car, with the other driver allegedly running from the scene.

A driver is on the run after a two-car collision in Oakleigh South in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Warrigal Rd was closed in both directions between South Rd and Centre Rd, after the serious collision about 3.45am that left one man trapped in his car with serious injuries.

Police have been told a Toyota and BMW collided on Warrigal Rd near Claronga St about 3.45am.

The driver of the Toyota, believed to be a man in his 20-30s, allegedly ran from the scene.

The driver of the BMW, believed to be a man in his 40-50s, was trapped in his car for a short time until he was released by emergency crews.

He has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Warrigal Rd has now reopened to traffic.
