DOUGHNUT-LOVERS have rushed to try the latest sweet summer treat, with queues of people waiting to get their hands on the ice cream that brings new meaning to soft serve.

The doughnut shop, which has become a sweet institution in Oakleigh’s thriving food strip, has today launched their latest summer treat with new creations including doughnut ice cream cones and doughnut ice cream sandwiches.

Co-owner Nic Kabylakis this morning said the demand had already been “massive” for the new creations, with customers queuing before the shop opened to get their fix.

Mr Kabylakis said it was his brother Yani’s idea to serve up the sweet treats to complement their wonderful doughnut range.

“We’ll have a couple of variations including cinnamon sugared and chocolate coated doughnut cones,” Mr Kabylakis said.

He said they moulded their yeast-raised doughnuts into cone shapes and fried them to ensure they would remain firm.

Mr Kabylakis said they were also serving up glazed ice cream sandwiches with soft serve vanilla ice cream in the middle.

“The new desserts are absolutely delicious and we can’t wait for people to try them,” he said.

He said their sweet creations set them apart from their competitors.

“We use the highest quality ingredients for our doughnuts and desserts and we can’t thank the Oakleigh community enough for embracing us,” he said.
