Three youths are on the run after a stolen car went up in flames on the Monash Freeway.
Police are investigating after the stolen vehicle was dumped on the Freeway in Chadstone on Monday evening, with the trio then seen running into traffic as they got away.
Emergency services attended the scene after several calls to triple-0, advising a car was on fire in the inbound lanes, near Warrigal Rd, about 7.30pm.
Officers were also told three youths were seen running from the vehicle into traffic in the vicinity of the dumped car and appeared to have jumped freeway barriers towards Malvern train station to get away.
Local police, the dog squad and protective service officers patrolled the area but were unable to find the trio.
The stolen 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer was towed from the scene for forensic testing.
