A man allegedly fleeced people out of thousands of dollars withdrawing money from stolen bank cards across Melbourne.

A man has allegedly swindled thousands of dollars from stolen bank cards, withdrawing more than $8700 from ATMs across Melbourne.

Investigations began after victims reported have unauthorised cash withdrawals from their accounts.

The man allegedly visited cash machines in Toorak, South Yarra, Box Hill, Richmond, Springvale and Melbourne’s CBD and racked up $8790 stolen cash.

Withdrawals were made from previously stolen cards and happened between December last year and March this year.

CCTV footage has been released which captures a man who may be able to help police with their inquiries.

He is described as caucasian, in his 30s, of a medium to solid build and often wears a New York Yankees baseball cap.

Detectives will continue the investigation and hope any other victims come forward.
