ONE of Melbourne’s favourite doughnut shops has arrived at Eastland — and they’re giving away 200 free doughnuts tonight to celebrate.
Croydon cult favourite Goldeluck’s Bakeshop are opening a pop-up cafe on level two at Eastland for two months from today.
The Main St bakery made headlines last year with its world-first 24K Magic doughnut — a giant doughnut covered in 96 per cent of edible gold.
It has also gained an enviable reputation for its ‘dossants’ — a doughnut and croissant hybrid — and a doughnut-inspired version of the Halal Snack Pack.
Owner Phillip Kuoch said the Eastland pop-up would offer a selection of their speciality items along with hot and cold drinks. A new monster shake range will also be launched exclusively at Eastland in the coming weeks.
Mr Kuoch said he and the staff were “very proud” to move into a major shopping centre after trading for more than 20 years in Main St.
“It’s definitely a very big step for us, we came from very humble beginnings,” he said.
“A lot of the customers have been really proud of us, especially the ones that have been coming for 20 years.
“They’re really proud of us getting out and about and representing Croydon.”
Mr Kuoch said Goldeluck’s Croydon shop would still operate as normal and the Eastland pop-up could be extended depending on its success.
The early signs are good — more than 350 doughnuts were snapped up by hungry customers in a soft launch yesterday afternoon.
Goldeluck’s are hosting a special opening night party at Eastland tonight from 6pm.
Fans can start lining up from 5pm, and the first 200 people in line will get a free Nutella Rocher or Roasted Coconut Jam doughnut.
The first person in line will get a nine-pack of dossants, while the next seven people will get a four-pack.
Everyone in the line must RSVP to Goldeluck’s Facebook event and share it on their personal pages to be eligible for the freebies.
