DOUGHNUT mania has hit Springvale, with a newly-arrived bakery staying open 24 hours a day to meet demand.
Daniel’s Donuts on the Princes Highway has had queues of customers around the clock and people visiting from across Victoria to taste their decadent treats.
It’s the second venture of the family-run business, following on from Daniel’s Bakery in Wyndham in the west — which drew international media attention in 2015 for selling up to 10,000 Nutella doughnuts a day.
The Springvale store was a “new and improved” offering, spokeswoman Laura Bartalotta said.
The classics are there — glazed, fresh jam and cream, and Nutella — and then there’s the ever-changing creations, such as Golden Gaytime, lemon meringue and a doughnut with an entire Snickers bar inside.
“Whoever has an idea to suggest new flavours we’ll give it a try,” she said.
Mrs Bartalotta said the bakery had been a year in the planning before they opened in November last year.
They chose Springvale because there was no other business in the area offering the same type of doughnuts.
The bakery’s Facebook page already has more than 8000 fans.
“Donut miss it,” Ama Nda posted on one of their photos, while Charmaine D’Cruz raved, “These are really the best donuts I have ever tasted”.
