From epic ice creams to flowing chocolate fountains, here’s #SnapMelbourne’s list of Melbourne’s most Instagrammable desserts.

1. Aqua S

The closest thing to eating an actual cloud, Aqua S ice creamery dishes up soft serve topped with an assortment of sugary treats, surrounded by a fluffy swirl of fairy floss. ‘Nuff said. Join the queues at QV in Melbourne CBD.

2. Don’t Tell Charles

This experimental bakery tucked away in Melbourne’s western suburbs churns out cakes that would impress Willy Wonka himself. Feeling inspired? You can join the cake extraordinaires in a decorating class.

3. Mork

Dessert can come in liquid form too — just ask the mad scientists at North Melbourne’s Mork Chocolate brew house. The campfire chocolate is a DIY affair, with chocoholics pouring their favourite brew into a glass swirling with beechwood smoke. A toasted marshmallow completes the experience and is enough to melt the Melbourne spring chill.

4. Om Nom

When one dessert just isn’t enough, skip dinner and head to Om Nom. Billed as the world’s first dessert hotel, the Flinders Lane establishment offers a degustation of sweets for diners who need an urgent sugar buzz.

5. The Kettle Black

This South Melbourne eatery’s coconut-set chia shows sweet treats don’t need to be naughty. Beloved by food bloggers, this breakfast concoction is bedecked with blossoms and almost too pretty to eat.

6. Little Frankie's

From freak shakes to cronuts, the frankenfood food trend isn’t dying down. Patisserie kind Adriano Zumbo isn’t immune to the craze, with his South Yarra eatery scooping up soft serve in doughnut cones. The wacky creations come with a variety of toppings that will sate any sugar craving.

7. Oregano Bakery

Get in quick while you can — this pastry pop-up will close its doors at Melbourne Central in the new year. With a range of toppings ranging from fairy bread and classic cinnamon to banoffee and red velvet, this is one sweet treat that won’t break the bank.

8. Conservatory

Why have just one cake when you can have 10? Conservatory’s famed buffet spread includes a dessert bar with a variety of tiny sweet treats. Don’t forget to save some space for the chocolate fountain and lolly bar.

9. Nuts-About-Tella

Mmm, Nutella. This Melbourne Central food truck-turned-pop up lives up to its name, stuffing the world’s favourite chocolate hazelnut spread into doughnuts, burgers and spreading it on pizzas. Paleo dieters need not apply.

10. La Belle Miette

This French classic will never go out of style, serving up pastel macarons and ice creams to the city’s Francophiles. With four locations around Melbourne, the gorgeous Art Nouveau Collins St store is a picture-perfect spot for lingering in.

11. Tea Salon

Fancy china, colourful treats and gilded high tea stands are just par for the course at this English-style tea house. Living up to its origins, the Emporium eatery offers eight types of scones and 28 varieties of tea. Pinky optional.

12. Burch & Purchese

No list of Melbourne dessert houses would be complete without Darren Purchese’s decadent creations. The inventive sugar king is known for his jewel-like temptations and bold combinations of flavours and textures. The hardest part is picking just one.
