OUR beautiful city turned up the sun and clear blue skies for a glorious #SnapMelbourne day.

Melburnians and visitors alike congregated at Queensbridge Square, Southbank, today for the Leader Community News #SnapMelbourne Pop Up Party.

There were food trucks galore with free tasty treats to sample from Melbourne Paella, Dos Diablos and Rai Thai.

Isaiah Firebrace took to the stage performing his X Factor Australia winner’s single It’s Gotta Be You and his Eurovision song Don’t Come Easy, along a few other tunes including old classic Over the Rainbow, Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You and Beyonce’s Halo.

The talented teenager also did a meet and greet with his fans.

Meanwhile Canon Collective ambassadors Jay Collier and Neal Walters were on hand to run photographer walking tours.

Our state partner Barry Plant Real Estate dished out free ice creams, which were most welcome in the afternoon heat, and Cancer Council Victoria representatives provided a continuous supply of sunscreen.

There were also players from Melbourne Storm, Melbourne Vixens and Hockey Australia to meet and greet.

#SnapMelbourne is a campaign encouraging people to take photos and share on social media what they love about the world’s most liveable city.

And the day is not over.

Wherever you are in Melbourne today, whether it’s the CBD or the suburbs, make sure to snap and share your favourite photos of where you live on Instagram and Facebook with the hashtag #SnapMelbourne.

We’ll be featuring some of the best pictures on our social media gallery here.

Nanette White has posted thousands of #SnapMelbourne Instagram photos taken on her phone.

“Melbourne is just so diverse — you’ve got the street art, the architecture, the river,” Ms White, from Melbourne CBD, told Leader at the Queensbridge Square event.

“I love taking photos along the Yarra River and at Southbank. It’s so iconic and you can walk to so many places around here. You feel like you are out of the city but still so close.”

Her photos range from grungy street art to gothic architecture, sleek steel and concrete buildings to flowers and wildlife.

“If something catches my eye I’ll take a photo of it. I don’t go out looking for subjects.”

Suzanne Woods, from Hampton, said her favourite thing about Melbourne was its diversity.

“It’s the people, it’s the architecture, it’s what you can do here, from the artwork in the laneways to the National Gallery of Victoria,” Ms Woods said.

“I’ve travelled around quite a bit and a lot of places around the world are lovely but they don’t have much variation.”

Interstate tourists Yvonne Calligeros and Vicki Waugh said they loved “everything” about Melbourne.

“The coffee, the food and everyone’s so friendly,” Ms Calligeros said.
