A magistrate has wiped nearly $100,000 in tolls and infringements fines for a former Hells Angels bikie and Melbourne kickboxer.
Kane Montebello, 35, fronted the Ringwood Magistrates Court on Wednesday to ask for his fines to be reduced.
The court heard Montebello, who was previously the Hells Angels Darkside chapter president, racked up more than $124,000 in fines from 313 infringements.
The whopping amount included 277 toll fines, 36 traffic offences for speeding, parking and traffic light infringements as well as a $12,000 County Court fine for bashing a former associate.
The court heard Montebello had “turned his life around”.
He was also impacted by a severe motorcycle accident and surgery complications which left him in a coma.
Magistrate Jason Ong wiped nearly $100,000 in fine repayments for Montebello, leaving him to pay a $12,000 court fine and $6400 in infringement payments.
“You’ve done well to get your life back on track,” he said.
“I don’t want to crush you with these payments.”
Montebello, who is now working as a labourer, will have to make monthly payments of $150 to the County Court and $50 towards the infringement fines.
