A public transport menace who assaulted multiple passengers after attempting to rob them has been jailed.
Trent Keith Dunham fronted the Ringwood Magistrates Court on Monday pleading guilty to a slew of theft, assault and drug charges.
On August 24 last year, a woman was waiting for a bus at the Ringwood train station when Dunham attempted to snatch her phone.
When the woman did not give him her phone, Dunham assaulted the woman, leaving her pushed up against the back of the bus shelter.
The woman fought back and eventually escaped him.
Dunham then tried to walk away and flee on a bus but was arrested by officers.
On another occasion in September, Dunham approached a man on a train heading to Ringwood.
He pinned the man up against the train window for more than ten seconds.
The victim managed to escape his clutches and called for help but Dunham jumped off the train before public transport safety officers could arrive.
The entire incident was caught on CCTV and the victim was left with minor injuries.
Dunham assaulted another person waiting at a bus stop later that month.
He attempted to steal the victims’ headphones by swinging his arms at their head.
The victim ran away and Dunham jumped on a bus.
Dunham also plead guilty to a number of shop and phone thefts across the eastern suburbs, as well as an incident where he was busted doing drugs in the women’s bathrooms at a train station.
He was sentenced to 120 days in custody and a 12 month good behaviour bond.
He will be released in 30 days, having already served 90 days in pre sentence detention.
