A man in a pack of rowdy motorbike riders has been arrested and copped 17 charges after allegedly travelling at more than 200km/h in Melbourne’s east.
Nunawading highway patrol police saw a group of about 40 riders who were allegedly riding recklessly and hooning on the Princes Hwy in Clayton about 8.30pm on Tuesday.
Officers then spotted one of the riders on Dandenong Rd and clocked them allegedly travelling at 201km/h in an 80km/h zone, more than 120km/h over the speed limit.
The 21-year-old Essendon man was pulled up and arrested by officers, who found he was allegedly not displaying P-plates.
He was charged with 17 alleged dangerous driving and speeding-related offences, and bailed to appear at the Moorabbin Magistrates Court on April 29.
The man’s motorbike was also impounded for 30 days and his rider’s licence was immediately suspended.
Police are also working to identify the other motorcyclists seen in the area, and any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
