A MAN living in a quiet Blackburn South street has had one car stolen and another vandalised — for the second time in six months.
Ray Wilcox’s cars were parked metres from his house on Samuel Rd overnight on Sunday August 5, when thieves stole one, and tried to steal the second one, breaking its locks and tampering with the ignition.

It was a case of deja vu for Mr Wilcox, who has lived in Blackburn South for 25 years, when he discovered what had happened on Monday August 5 — he had woken up on a Monday morning in March to find the same cars had been stolen and vandalised overnight.
Mr Wilcox said in March the stolen car was found “smashed and dumped” on a Canterbury Rd footpath two days after it went missing.
It was returned to him and restored by insurance.
He repaired the other car himself.
This time around the car collector has again fixed up his damaged car, at his own expense, but his stolen Subaru hasn’t yet been found.
Now he’s planning to have CCTV installed on his property.
“I’ve had enough of this crime rate,” he said.
“The state government has to control this crime and theft. It’s got to be stopped.
“I don’t like the world we live in now.”
Box Hill police Sergeant Alisdair Farrel said investigations into the incident were ongoing.
“These appear to be part of a theme of early model vehicles such as Nissan Pulsars and Subarus being targeted,’’ he said.
