If you’ve ever wanted to experience playing your favourite video game on a huge screen, here’s your chance.

To celebrate its reopening, Reading Cinemas Burwood, inside the Burwood Brickworks shopping centre, is offering people the chance to enjoy an epic gamer night for a reduced rate.

Cinema complex manager Taylor Brotherton said a person and up to 10 of their friends could hire out a cinema to plug in an Xbox, PlayStation or whatever gaming console they have, and play games on the big screen for two hours, at a cost of $250.

“I got the privilege of testing it out which was pretty awesome,” Mr Brotherton said.

“For two hours they can enjoy sitting back in nice recliners playing whatever game they want.

“It’s perfect for a birthday party.”

The cinemas reopened on Monday after closing during the coronavirus lockdown.

Mr Brotherton said although some film releases had been delayed, there was still plenty of content, and they were planning to screen some older classics.

He said the next big new release would be Mulan on July 23.

Mr Brotherton said in response to the pandemic, they had increased cleaning of all customer contact surfaces and had gone completely cashless.

Social distancing rules also apply in all areas of the cinemas.

“We do have limited capacity as well so we’re encouraging people to book online,” he said.

Meanwhile, Burwood Brickworks is offering a free tub of ice cream to all customers who spend $20 at a participating food outlet in the centre.

It comes as new businesses are set to open at the centre in coming weeks, including Gami Chicken & Beer on July 6, followed by Rosa Mexicano, acre Patisserie, Taste Hunan and dog boutique DOGUE.
