THE family of Box Hill South couple are calling for help to find their late parents’ stolen possessions.
In the three weeks between when the family sold their parents’ home of almost 50 years and when they returned to clear it out, the garage was ransacked and two boxes full of family photos and sentimental items were taken.
Daughter Liz Thurrowgood said the stolen boxes contained nothing of financial gain.
“It was stuff of no monetary value — just sentimental value to us,” she said.

“It was just family photos and things from Mum’s room at the nursing home.”
One box contained the only known photo of her grandfather, who passed away when she was a child.
Ms Thurrowgood and her sister Virginia Wiseman, both from NSW, arrived at the house on June 15 to find the garage had been broken into since the property was auctioned at the end of May.
Furniture and bags stored inside had been gone through and clothes had been strewn about.
As far as they are aware, only the two boxes of photos and personal possessions were stolen. Power tools were also in the garage, but weren’t stolen.
“There’s absolutely no logic to it,” Ms Thurrowgood said.
“But there could be stuff gone we weren’t aware of.”
Ms Thurrowgood said the scene appeared as if the intruder had been interrupted midway, with only one side of the garage disturbed.
But the women weren’t concerned about who ransacked the items — they just want their family’s precious belongings back.

One of the boxes was a 60 litre plastic tub, the other was a cardboard packing box.
Some of the things inside which might be recognisable were a small crystal tray, a handpainted Siamese cat ornament, a hairbrush, bottles of perfume and cards.
Ms Thurrowgood and Ms Wiseman are the daughters of Donald and Kaye Wiseman, who died in June 2018, and September 2017, respectively.
The Wisemans lived on Riversdale Rd, Box Hill South, for almost 50 years.
They said Mr Wiseman was heavily involved with the St James Uniting Church on Riversdale Rd in Box Hill South, and was a well-respected member of its congregation since the early 1970s.
Anyone with information about the stolen items should phone Box Hill police station on 8892 3200.
