Two people have managed to escape a Box Hill North house that went up in flames.
More than 30 firefighters rushed to the single-storey brick home on Middleborough Rd, between Cherry Orchard Rise and Toogoods Rise, about 5.20pm on Saturday after several people phoned 000.
When firefighters arrived five and half minutes later, they found the front of the house on fire and two people who had already got out of the house.
The firefighters managed to contain the blaze to the several bedrooms at the front of the building within half an hour.

More than half a dozen trucks were used in the effort, as well as an aerial unit.
A man who had been in the house when the fire started was treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
While only the front of the house was burnt, the MFB said the rest of the building was damaged by smoke, and then by water used to extinguish the blaze.
Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
