Banyule is dusting off the tinsel for its annual Carols by Candlelight.

And in a council first, there will be Auslan interpreters along with the plethora of festive performers at Ivanhoe Park on December 14.

The Voice finalist Jazmin Varlet is making a return appearance as one of the headliners at the concert and said she had always dreamt of singing at the carols.

“It was so much fun doing it the first time, people can dance and sing and I’ll get the kids involved,” Varlet said.

She previously sang in 2016 and plans to perform Santa Baby and White Christmas.

She was a finalist The Voice this year.

Varlet lives in Yallambie and said one of her earliest memories was walking along The Boulevard with her family, looking at all the twinkling Christmas lights.

“It’s a bit of a family tradition,” Varlet said.

Families are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs, pack a picnic for the night, or grab some treats from the food trucks.

Carollers can also stroll down The Blvd to see the Christmas light displays.

All carollers will be given a free song book, while LED candles can be purchased for a gold coin donation to the Banyule Children's Gift Appeal.

Banyule Mayor Alison Champion said the carols had become a community favourite.

“It brings our community together to share a festive evening of music, entertainment and family friendly activities,” Cr Champion said.

Bobby Foix, who played Frankie Vali in Jersey Boys, will also perform.

The Australian Children's Choir, Diamond Valley Brass Band, the Kazoos, and Santa will also make an appearance.

The event runs from 6pm to 9.30pm and includes food trucks and pre-show entertainment.
