A single rusty metal bucket branded as a “vintage can”, an unwashed alpaca fleece and just plain rocks are just a few of the wacky items up for grabs in Banyule’s buy, swap and sell Facebook groups. What other zany things are people selling?

Are you in the hunt for a rusty bucket? What about a pile of rocks? Well, if you’re a member of Banyule’s buy, swap and sell Facebook groups you’re in luck.

A Leader search of the groups has uncovered a plethora of weird and wonderful items up for grabs.

Optimistic people are selling everything, including the kitchen sink – for $50 pick up in South Morang.

Bargain hunters can get their hands on garden rocks for free, the catch is you need to bring your own excavator or bobcat to haul the heavy load home.

With pages of up to 28,000 members, thrifty spenders can find everything from a single rusty metal bucket, branded as a ‘vintage can’ for $10, to a giant children's play area for $200 or chicken manure for $6 for 25 litres.

Jess Tejai is selling a retail register drawer for $100, cash not included.

If someone’s in the market for untreated and unwashed fleece ‘straight from the Alpaca’, there’s six big bags available, for free.

Margaret Mary listed her small, vintage dolls chair for $20, a popular item on the page.

“It’s a strange thing to sell especially these days,” Ms Mary said.

Just in time for summer Diana Gugliemi is selling a 5m-long swim spa, if shoppers have an extra $15,000 lying around.

There's also a 1940s restored bakelite radio for $275 and a black Christmas tree originally used for a funky Batman themed decoration, on offer for $30.

A bag of scrap fabric is available for free from dance shop owner Mary Boin.

“I hate throwing things in the bin and know something can be made out of the scraps,” Ms Boin said.
