A Bendigo bank employee put others’ lives in danger, a magistrate has said, after he was caught drink driving at more than four times the limit.
William Cornish-Drechsler, 23, pleaded guilty at Bendigo Magistartes’ Court on Monday to drink driving.
Cornish-Drechsler was spotted by police driving “erratically” on Somerville St, Flora Hill before returning a BAC reading of 0.208 on a roadside test.
Cornish-Drechsler was “remorseful and cooperative” with police, admitting he had been drinking at a mate’s place.
The court heard Cornish-Drechsler had been catching the bus to work at the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank since he was busted in October.
Cornish-Drechsler’s lawyer said the drink driving was an “aberration” in the young man’s otherwise good character.

Magistrate Dominic Lennon told Cornish-Drechsler he had “imperilled the lives of the public”, but was “satisfied it’s out of character”.
Cornish-Drechsler was fined $1000 without conviction and his licence was disqualified for 20 months.
