A student from a Bendigo high school has been taken to hospital after she was allegedly assaulted by a woman believed to be trespassing on campus.

Police were called in to investigate after the girl was set upon at Weeroona Secondary College on Napier St in Bendigo on March 3.

”It is believed the offender approached the victim at the Napier Street school before assaulting her,” Bendigo Police said in a statement to social media.

“The (alleged) offender is described as having a solid build with short black hair.”

Parents have told the Herald Sun the woman was dressed in Weeroona Secondary College uniform when entering the campus.

Police have released an image of a woman they believe could assist with their inquiries and are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report.

The incidents comes as unruly Weeroona College students continue to put the school in the spotlight, with the Herald Sun revealing last week footage capturing three boys from the school vandalising the heritage listed Tomlins Simmie Co Flour Mill.

A Department of Education spokesperson said the school was “cooperating fully with Police in relation to an investigation.”

“As always, the safety and wellbeing of students and staff is our highest priority. Wellbeing supports are being offered to any impacted students,” the spokesperson said.
