An accused Bendigo drug dealer allegedly busted with thousands of dollars worth of meth has been refused bail.

Thomas Stephens, 41, of Kangaroo Flat faced Bendigo Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with trafficking drugs.

Police came knocking on the Browning St property around 11am on April 20 for unrelated matters.

Police allege Mr Stephens attempted to flee officers on foot shortly after they arrived, but was caught not far away.

When police searched Mr Stephens they allegedly found 70g of meth.

Officers from the Central Victoria Response Unit charged Mr Stephens with trafficking a commercial quantity of methylamphetamine, possessing cannabis, morphine, prescription medications and proceeds of crime.

Mr Stephens’ bail was refused and remanded to appear at Bendigo Magistrates’ Court in July.
