A Bendigo man told a woman he would take a hacksaw to her head before sending her a vile picture of a decapitated corpse.

Kieren Tuohey, 23, of White Hills, faced Bendigo Magistrates’ Court this week having pleaded guilty to making threats to kill after sending a woman hundreds of abusive text messages in an “escalating” four month campaign of abuse.

Tuohey sent the victim hundreds of abusive text messages and voicemails between January and April.

The victim repeatedly tried to block Tuohey, but he managed to reach her number using a No caller ID.

Tuohey texted the victim on one occasion in January “I’ll take a hacksaw and severe your head”.

Tuohey then sent the victim a “very graphic” image of a decapitated body followed by a text saying “don’t f**k with me”.

Tuohey stepped up his harassment in February and March texting the victim: “I’ll f**king kill you”.

“I know where you f**king live you stupid bitch,” he threatened.

“Don’t f**k with me or you die.”

Tuohey also threatened to kill the victim’s family, telling her “I am going to slit your fathers throat”.

Tuohey was arrested and charged on April 3 after he made more than 100 calls to the victim in one day.

Police opposed his bail arguing that he would continue to harass the victim and her family with the sole intention of causing her fear.

Tuohey made full admissions to police that he had persistently threatened the woman, stating “I can’t control my emotions”.

Tuohey was however released on bail, despite his criminal history of making threats to kill, criminal damage by fire and unlawful assault dating back to 2019.

The court heard police are also investigating Tuohey as a person of interest in further criminal matters.

The court heard police intended to interview Tuohey in relation to possible fresh charges that could be laid against him for an unrelated matter.

The court heard the new matter is “still in negotiations” and charges have not been laid yet.

Tuohey was set to be sentenced on Wednesday, but Magistrate Megan Aumair adjourned the case a statement from his victim could be read to the court in June.
