Mount Macedon crash: Teenage boy dies after car hits tree
An 18-year-old from Gisborne has been identified as the young man who died after his car smashed into a tree near Mt Macedon.

A teenage boy has been identified as the victim of a horrific crash near a small town between Bendigo and Melbourne.
Victoria Police said an 18-year-old from Gisborne died after his car smashed into a tree outside Church of the Resurrection in Mt Macedon.
Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle crash on Mount Macedon Rd, Mount Macedon at 8.45pm.
The teen, who was alone in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are now investigating the fatal crash, with the exact circumstances yet to be determined.
Officers will prepare a report for the coroner.
Victoria Police said the teen’s death brought this year’s road toll to 89 lives.
Central Victorian families have been savaged by the roads, with six deaths since in the Bendigo, Ballarat and surrounding regions since the start of April.
Only a day before the Gisborne teen was killed, a truck driver died in a three-vehicle pileup on the Glenelg Highway, at Wattle Flat west of Ballarat.
Police have yet to contact the male truck driver’s next of kin.
In April four people were killed on Central Victorian roads, with a 21-year-old Wendouree man killed at Amphitheatre, a 44-year-old local woman dying at Inglewood, a 61-year old Wendouree woman fatally hit by a Ballarat garbage truck, and Echuca father Kade Mongta killed on the highway near Heathcote.
