A Heathcote couple have been remembered for their loving nature after they were killed in a horror crash, leaving behind five children.
Vesna Brodjanac, 47, and Scott Ash, 51, were killed after the car they were travelling in struck a tree on the Northern Highway on Sunday night.
Ms Brodjanac is survived by her adult children Chris and Stephanie who have serious medical conditions.
Jane Colson, a friend who worked alongside the mother-of-two for about five years, said Ms Brodjanac was “always smiling”.
“Even when she wasn’t having a good day she had a smile on her face,” she said.
“We always seemed to come back to each other even when we hadn’t seen each other for a long time. We worked opposite shifts at work but that didn’t stop us from becoming close friends.
“If you ever needed someone to talk to, Vesna was there for you.
“Chris and Stephanie have lost an amazing mother.”
Mr Ash, the youngest of five children, leaves behind three children.
Toni Turpin, a close friend of Mr Ash, said the world had lost “an absolute angel”.
“Scott was a big gentle softie and larrikin,” she said.
“He was always complimenting me and telling me all the good things I did for him. The world has lost a really great person who I am going to miss dearly.”
Ms Turpin remembered Ash, who had been forced to retire from work due to an injury, as someone who was always willing to help.
She said he also had a strong love for his Harley Davidson motorcycle.
“He would ride it absolutely everywhere,” she said.
“Scott would often go out and spilt wood for me despite his own injuries – he was just that type of person.”
A GoFundMe has been created by close friend of Ms Brodjanac, Tinika Pasinetti, to help cover the costs of her funeral.
“Vesna was the most loving and fun person in everyone’s lives who’s loyalty to her beloved friends and family, knew no bounds,” the GoFundMe said.
“She leaves behind her most adored treasures, her two kids, Chris and Stephanie who are in an unimaginable situation at such a young age, who themselves have severe medical conditions and ongoing costs associated.”
In a series of social media posts, friends remembered the mother-of-two for her “big personality”.
“Tonight we raise a glass for Vesna Brodjanac,” a post from the Heathcote Inn said.
“You will truly be missed, and things will not be the same around here without your big personality and smiling face.”
Friend Clara David also shared her own moving tribute.
“Gone from our sight, but never from our hearts,” she wrote.
“Rest In Peace beautiful Vesna Brodjanac. Thank you for all the memories. God needed another angel so he chose you.”
Lidia Mazur added: “Vesna, words cannot describe the hollowness and pain in my heart. You will be missed by so many.”
