Echuca, on the border of Victoria and NSW, is on high alert after two Covid cases were confirmed in an aged care home, and two separate cases visited a secondary college.
Two residents at Glanville Village have tested positive and the aged care village is now in lockdown.
Echuca Regional Health acting chief executive Dr Glenn Howlett said there had been an increase numbers in Campaspe Shire, particularly Echuca.
On Tuesday, seven new Covid cases were confirmed in the Victorian Government’s daily figures.
“With people moving around more freely we do expect to see increased prevalence in the community and it is important that people who are unwell have the supports they need,” he said.
“This virus can result in people getting sick very quickly so anyone who tests positive is monitored by a specialist health team via home monitoring.”
Dr Howlett said ERH would assess the needs for additional testing on a day by day basis.
In a letter to parents Echuca College confirmed two Covid cases attended the school on Friday and Year 7 students had been sent home and told to get tested and isolate until results are returned.
“The requirement to be a primary close contact is exposure for two hours minimum,” the school said.
“all staff who are primary close contacts have been notified and sent for testing. Please maintain vigilance with face masks and sanitising.”
People can get tested at Rotary Park Echuca, 1 Rose Street, Monday – Sunday, 9.30am – 4.30pm.
