A 21-year-old Werribee man has died after his motorbike crashed into a road sign in Cape Paterson.

A motorcyclist has died after he crashed into a road sign in the Bass Coast at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Cape Paterson Rd, Cape Paterson just after 8am on Sunday.

A police spokesperson said the rider, a 21-year-old Werribee man, was taken to hospital where he later died.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.

The crash has taken the state road toll to 222, compared to 227 lives lost on Victorian roads this time in 2023.
