Victorian road toll rises after Rosedale man killed helping change flat tire
Tragic details have emerged about the Rosedale man who was killed while helping a stranded motorist with a flat tyre in Flynn.

A Rosedale family is in mourning after two members were involved in Friday’s tragic accident in eastern Victoria, in which a man was struck and killed by a car while helping a stranded motorist.
Leader understands the victim of yesterday’s crash was a Rosedale father who was struck by a car on the Princes Highway while helping his son change a tyre.
The 55-year-old Rosedale man stopped his car on the Princes Hwy in Flynn shortly after 8am on Friday to help his 22-year-old son who had called him for help.
Police have been told an approaching car struck the man while he was standing on the roadside at about 8.20am.
The 55-year-old man later died at the scene.
A police spokeswoman said the driver of the car, a 23-year-old Rosedale man, stopped immediately to assist police, and was later released pending further enquirieis.
The 23-year-old man was also taken to hospital on Friday night suffering from shock,
Investigators from the major collision investigation unit are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash and the highway remains closed for west bound traffic.

The death brings the State’s road toll to 113 – 18 higher than the same time last year.
Five people have lost their lives on Victorian Roads in the past 24 hours after fatal collisions in Buxton, Thornhill Park and Bundoora in Melbourne and Geelong.
Road Policing assistant commissioner Glenn Weir said the state was entering a high-risk period, cautioning motorists to not get “complacent” behind the wheel.
“Slowing down, remaining alert and being extra cautious when roads are wet or visibility is affected are simple, but lifesaving measures all motorists can take to protect themselves and other road users,” he said.
