Three people have been rescued in the same day after their vehicles got stuck in flood waters in the state’s east.

It’s understood the driver of a truck attempted to drive through flood waters before the vehicle got stuck on McKinnons Rd and /Seaton-Tinamba Rd in Tinamba at 11.18am on Friday.

A nearby resident said the two occupants of the truck were freed from the vehicle.

A sand levee bank was put in place on Tinamba-Seaton Rd — not far from where the truck got struck — just 100m from the Tinamba Hotel.

A section on McKinnons Rd was also filled with flood water.

Another person was also stuck in flood waters on Friday.

“Paramedics were called to Perry Bridge just before 3pm to a report of someone in water,” an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.

“Paramedics are assessing a man at the scene who appears to be in a stable condition.”

Heyfield Fire Brigade First Lieutenant Phil Graham said workers were preparing sandbags as communities in the outlining areas come under threat from rising waters in the river catchments.

“We’ve been pretty lucky, we haven’t had any flash flooding at this stage because the rain has just been fairly steady — the big problem is the outflows of the Thompson Dam and the Glenmaggie Weir,’’ he said.

“A lot of water is still coming down those catchments — and that poses a threat to communities over the next 24 to 48 hours.”

Lt Graham said some of the sandbags would be trucked over to Tinamba.

“They haven’t been impacted as yet however we do believe that could change over the next eight to 10 hours,” he said.

Emergency services also made a rescue after a car got stuck in flood waters in Tinamba at 3pm on Thursday.

It’s been confirmed the person who was involved in the incident is safe.

The SES urge anyone near or at risk of danger in floods to call 132 500 and for emergencies contact triple-0.
