Two men in hospital after falling overboard in inlet near campsite in Tamboon, East Gippsland

An elderly man has been flown to a Melbourne hospital in a serious condition while another was taken to a local hospital after they fell overboard in an inlet in East Gippsland.

Two elderly men have been taken to hospital after they fell overboard into an inlet near a campsite in East Gippsland.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the corner of Fisherman’s Trek and Morris Rd in Tamboon just before 1pm on Wednesday.

Both men, believed to be aged in their 70s, were recovered from the water.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson one man was flown to a Melbourne hospital in a serious condition with upper and lower body injuries while the other was taken to Bairnsdale Regional Health.

Tamboon is 462km east of Melbourne.

Investigations by the Marine Investigation Unit remain ongoing.
