Sale man Spencer Shumski pleads not guilty to alleged stabbing murder while out on bail
A 20-year-old Sale man charged with murder has entered a plea over the fatal stabbing of a man walking home with his wife.

A Sale man accused of murdering a man walking home from a night out with his wife has pleaded not guilty.
Spencer Shumski, 20, appeared in Sale Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday over the May 7 stabbing of a 38-year-old man while he was out on bail for serious gun charges.
Clinton Allen was walking in a group past the Criterion Hotel in Gippsland after midnight when the alleged attack occurred.
The group called the police, who arrived at the York-MacAlister St intersection at 1am, to find Mr Allen wounded.
Officers applied first aid to Mr Allen — who had been walking home after celebrating his wife’s birthday — but he died at the scene.
Appearing via video link in court on Tuesday, Mr Shumski pleaded not guilty to the charges of murder and intent to cause injury.
Mr Shumski was directed to appear in the Supreme Court on October 5 for trial on the murder and intent to cause injury charges.
The Herald Sun reported Shumski was out on bail over serious guns charges at the time of the fatal stabbing, including two charges of possessing a controlled weapon alongside other firearms charges.
He will appear back in Sale Magistrates’ Court on October 2 to face the firearms charges.
Mr Allen was described as “an amazing husband, father and grandfather to his unborn granddaughter,” by stepdaughter Makala Lister.
“He was loved by everyone who met him and was always up for a chat no matter what topic.”
“He will be forever missed and loved from everyone he came in contact with.”
