A man has been arrested after an alleged hit and run collision involving a cyclist in Gippsland.
Emergency services were called to the scene on the Strzelecki Highway at Driffield — between Moe and Churchill — just after 5pm on Friday.
Officers found a male cyclist, believed to be in his 60s, who was flown to The Alfred with upper and lower body injuries.
Police allege the cyclist was involved in a collision with a blue Toyota Corolla that left the area before police arrived.
“A short time later, police arrested a 33-year-old Moe man, alleged to be the driver of the Toyota,” the spokesperson said.
“The man has been charged with negligently causing serious injury.”
He was bailed to appear before the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
Investigations by MCIU detectives remain ongoing.
