Motorcyclist killed in horror bike vs car smash in South Gippsland

Another life has been lost on regional Victorian roads, with a motorcyclist and a car colliding in South Gippsland.

A motorcyclist has become the latest person to die on regional Victorian roads, taking the states road toll to 54 this year.

Police are investigating the collision which occurred in Mardan on Wednesday evening.

It is understood a car and a motorcyclist collided on Meeniyan-Mirboo North Rd and Holmes Rd about 4.40pm.

The male motorcycle rider sadly died at the scene.

The man driving the car, an 86-year-old Churchill man, stopped at the scene and was not injured.

He is assisting police with their inquiries.
