Man flown to hospital in serious condition after house fire on Kokoda St, Morwell

A man in his 50s has been flown to hospital in a serious condition after a house fire in Morwell.

A man has been flown to hospital in a serious condition after a house fire in Victoria’s southeast.

Emergency services were called to a property on Kokoda St in Morwell just before 9.30pm Wednesday.

An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the patient in his 50s was taken to The Alfred with upper and lower body injuries.

An FRV spokesman said fire crews, assisted by CFA, arrived on scene within six minutes.

“Crews attacked the fire and conducted a primary search,” the spokesman said.

“One occupant was found in a critical condition and extracted from the house by firefighters.

“The occupant was treated by Ambulance Victoria at the scene.”

Kokoda St was closed off for some time.

The fire was deemed under control just before 10pm and the scene was handed over to police.

FRV’s Fire Investigation Unit will attend the scene Thursday morning to help determine the cause.
