Man, 38, taken to hospital with serious injuries in critical condition after being allegedly stabbed by another male on Commercial Rd in Morwell

A man who was arrested after allegedly stabbing another man and fleeing the scene on foot in Morwell has been let out on bail.

A man has been bailed after stabbing another man on a Latrobe Valley street, leaving him in a critical condition.

Police were called to the scene on Commercial Rd in Morwell just after 4pm on Wednesday, where it’s alleged a physical altercation took place between two men.

“During the altercation, one of the males sustained a stab wound,” a police spokeswoman said.

The victim, a 38-year-old Moe man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The other man, a 23-year-old from Morwell, allegedly fled the scene on foot and was arrested overnight.

He was charged with recklessly cause injury, affray, carrying a controlled weapon without an excuse and using a controlled weapon with an excuse and bailed to appear before the Latrobe Valley Magistrates’ Court in May.

Commercial Rd was taped off from Taiwan St and the traffic lights on Hazelwood Rd.

The investigation remains ongoing.
