A 55-year-old man has died in a workplace accident in Gippsland after he was found trapped between two vehicles.

It’s understood grain pellets were being unloaded from a truck into the loader’s bucket about 11.55am Tuesday when the loader moved forward — trapping the worker between it and a tip truck.

Emergency services were called to a Rices Lane property in Cowwarr and treated the man, from Glenmaggie, at the scene but he sadly died.

Police are preparing a report for the coroner and WorkSafe are continuing investigations.

The death brings the workplace fatality toll to 28 for 2022, six fewer than at the same time last year.
