A man and a woman have been injured and taken to hospital following a crash in Loch that closed the South Gippsland Highway was closed for several hours.

Two people have been injured and taken to hospital following a crash in the state’s southeast.

Emergency services were called to the scene on the South Gippsland Highway at Nyora-St Hellier Rd in Loch just before noon on Wednesday.

“Firefighters confirmed one person was trapped — the Gippsland Highway was closed as a result of the accident,” a CFA spokesperson said.

“That person was removed at 12.10pm and handed to Ambulance Victoria.”

The CFA had six vehicles on scene from Loch, Lang Lang and Poowong.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said a woman, believed to be in her 30s, was taken to Frankston Hospital in a stable condition with minor upper body injuries.

A man, believed to be in his 40s, was taken to Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition with a lower body injury.

The incident was declared safe at 12.26pm, but the highway remained closed for several hours.
