Maffra man Matthew James Wain accused of Sale murder appears in court

A Maffra man accused of the murder of a 50-year-old Sale man has returned to court.

A Maffra man accused of murdering a man in Sale earlier this year has appeared in court.

Matthew James Wain, 53, appeared in the Sale Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday where a date was set for a further committal mention.

At the next mention it is expected an application will be made to fast track the case to the Supreme Court.

Mr Wain appeared in court from prison via video link wearing his prison greens and a cap.

Mr Wain is currently in custody and no application for bail was made.

It is understood the alleged victim, a 50-year-old Sale man, was found with fatal injuries at a home in York St about 4.30pm on July 14.

Wain was arrested and charged just a few days later.
