A Maffra man charged with murder has faced court for the first time after a body was discovered at a Gippsland home.

A Maffra man faced Sale Magistrates’ Court on Monday after he was charged with murder following the discovery of a man’s body at a Gippsland property.
Matthew James Wain, 53, was arrested in Sale about 9.40am on Saturday morning.
He is facing one charge of murder after it is alleged he killed a 50-year-old Sale man.
He will remain in custody until November when he will reappear in Sale Magistrates’ Court.
It is understood the alleged victim was found with fatal injuries at a home in York St about 4.30pm on July 14.
