A learner motorbike rider was flown to hospital after crashing his vehicle on a busy highway in the Bass Coast on Sunday.

Emergency services were called to the Bass Highway after reports of a solo vehicle smash about 1.30pm on May 30.

Sergeant Adrian Condron said the Meeniyan man was thrown off his motorbike near Pound Creek, 17km east from Inverloch.

The 18-year-old was flown to The Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition with non life-threatening injuries.

Sgt Condron said investigations were ongoing.
