Hundreds have flocked to Phillip Island for the first Phillip Island Motorcycle Festival.
The main street was a hive of activity over the weekend as motorbikes filled the street for the show and shine and the blessing of the bikes.
The event kicked off on Friday night with an INXS tribute band and a local support act.
On Saturday there was the show and shine, stage activities and market stalls.
Sunday saw the blessing of the bikes and more fun with bands performing and the market still kicking on.
Monday and Tuesday night will see local bands performing at local venues.
The five day event was to celebrate all kinds of motorcycles and support charity, the festival includes live music performances, food trucks, a show and shine, group rides and the annual blessing of the bikes.
The event is to support Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation, a foundation all about saving and improving lives with organ and tissue donation.
The Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation was founded after seven-year-old Zaidee Rose Alexander Turner died suddenly in 2004 from a burst blood vessel in her brain called a cerebral aneurysm.
“Zadie's Rainbow Foundation was set up after our daughter died,” Kim Turner, Zadie’s mum said.
At the time of Zaidee’s death, the Turner family had been registered Organ and Tissue Donors for five years.
As a result, Zaidee donated her organs and tissues at the Royal Children’s Hospital, and helped to save or improve seven lives.
“At the time of her death she was the only child in Victoria to be an organ donor,” Mrs Turner said.
Those who purchased a ticket to the motorcycle festival will be supporting this foundation and as well as entry to the events, they will also receive Zaidee’s Foundation merch.
“We travel around doing different events to raise awareness of how important it is to become an organ and tissue donor,” Mrs Turner said.
The festival is the weekend prior the Australian MotoGP on Phillip Island.
Tickets provide entry into Friday and Saturday night band performances, entry to Blessing of the Bikes, Zaidee's Rainbow Shoelaces/Motorbike Pin and Patch and entry to a pub party on Monday and Tuesday night.
There will also be other events to enjoy across the five days including ‘best of’ competitions such as best beard and best mullet, an apple pie eating competition and a beer burp competition.
